Bodegas Bocopa implements the SMART Methodology

Established in 1987, Bodegas Bocopa is the union of several Alicante wineries in a common project. In 1990, it was recognized as the first Association of Agricultural Grape Producers (APA) in all Spain.

Bocopa is a pioneer company in many fields of oenology and viticulture. Since 1996 it has carried out important research work in the transformation of vineyards, the cultivation and the production of organic wines. Being the first to undertake this path has paid off as it is one of the world leaders in the market for so-called “Bio” wines.

Under the motto "The wines of Spain, the wines of Europe", Bocopa has become the most award-winning winery in Alicante and Spain.

With this innovative spirit, Bocopa has begun to implement the SMART Methodology in its more than 1000 hectares distributed in a territory of about 3000 km2. The objective is twofold, on the one hand, to improve knowledge of the processes that occur on their farms and, on the other, to have a "nitrate footprint" that allows them to adapt fertilization and irrigation to the needs of the crops, avoiding the excessive contributions of the same and the inappropriate times, in order to avoid the contamination of the soils and of the underground and surface waters.
