Agriculture SMART in Aguascalientes (Mexico)
Thursday, January 4, 2018
Mexico Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock, Rural Development, Fisheries and Food, in charge of administering federal resources under a harmonious development of the rural environment, has approved the project: Implementation of SMART Agriculture in the state of Aguascalientes for the enhancement of its viticulture and the rational use of groundwater resources.
The objective of this project is to provide, at level State, an operative monitoring infrastructure that helps agronomic decision-making for the improvement of vineyard quality and the rational use of groundwater resources currently in a state of overexploitation.
The methodology that is going to be implemented is based on SMART Agriculture, which has allowed us to obtain such good results in the Aguascalientes vineyards.
The singularity is given because it is the first time that this project is implemented at this geographical scope, an entire State, creating a monitoring network shared by thousands of farmers, to know the spatial and temporal variability of their agricultural holdings and to favor the decisions-making and irrigation management with the consequent saving of water and improvement of the quality of their crops.
